Every year on my Birthday I practice the same number of Sun Salutations as the year I am turning. It is a practice that I learned from a fellow yoga teacher many years ago. I consider it a happy coincidence that my Birthday is just days after the Spring Equinox, so I am able to let the energy of this practice bring light into my incoming year, as well as into this season of growth. It is powerful to align the practices in our life with the energy of the season and let that energy propel us more powerfully towards our dreams and intentions.

In this practice we will join in a short meditation, connect with the intention that we want to energize, move into the mindful movement of sun salutations, and receive a bliss filled savasana with essential oils, a gong bath and refreshments to replenish ourselves as we close.

A modified variation of sun salutations will be offered as well, as with any practice, we wish you to move at a pace and in a way that makes your body happy. You are welcome to complete 60 sun salutations with me, because it's my 60 Birthday!!! But you are welcome to complete the number of sun salutations of your birth years if you like, and then sit or lie in meditation to hold space as the remainder of the group continues.
